Sanctuary at Cap Cana in Dominican Republic

Time for me to report on my last trip.  This one wasn't local, but the somewhere warm in order to celebrate Stinkypaw's 50th birthday!

Here I am, sitting and waiting for breakfast at the airport, after the check in and security check, we made our way to a restaurant, since we were at the airport early for a morning flight.

What we didn't know nor expected, was that there would be a problem with one of the engine of the plane we were on.  So after pushing off at the gate, we came right back with the captain informing us that because one engine was broken, we had to change plane.

We had to wait six hours, yes, you read correctly, six long hours sitting at the Dorval airport just waiting for another plane to arrive to take us away.  Naturally, we ended up at a bar, since we were traveling with He.  There is a nice wine bar and tried to remained low profile since I'm not sure I'm legal just yet...

After the long hours of waiting, we did make it on a plane and flew away.  We arrived late, and let's just say I was happy to crash on this big bed!

The first few days after our arrival in Dominican Republic, it rained.  Daily.  It rained, not just a few showers here and there throughout the day, but non stop.  I mainly stayed in our room, while they went to the spa, and walked around the property and enjoyed themselves despite the weather.

The third day the sun peaked out for a while, and Stinkypaw and He went to the beach for a while, in between showers.  That morning Stinkypaw brought me along.  People were looking at me and smiling.  What can I say, I have that effect on people!  Here I am, on our way to the breakfast buffet.  You can see the clouds, and it was quite windy too.

The following day, on Stinkypaw's birthday, the sun was out for most of the day.  I spent the day with them, by the pool and spent some time on the beach.

Behind me, you can see the very busy pool bar.  They made some good drinks, and Stinkypaw particularly liked their Dirty Monkey, which had rum (of course!), chocolate and half a banana.
It was like a smoothie but with some booze.

When we made our way to the beach I had to pose on this sand turtle.  The beach was nice, but set more in an alcove, so not that long nor did we get to take those long walks on the beach...

At one end of the beach there were rocks, separating the property from the next one. A nice place to sit and be hit by the waves...

After that walk, I just had to rest a little and try to even out my tan, so I crash on a lounge chair by the pool...

I felt somewhat restless, since I had heard Stinkypaw's plan of what she wanted to do after lunch, so I couldn't stay down for too long.  I didn't want to miss out anything!

Who said you had to be a kid to play in the sand?  Certainly not Stinkypaw!  Here's the end result of her labor, with the help of a lady they've met earlier during the week.  It took them a little while to build this.  Stinkypaw was pretty proud of it all.

Of course I had to strike a pose!

When we got back to the room, before dinner, Stinkypaw was pleasantly surprised by the concierge, Emilio, who was leaving her a cute rose petals mesage on the bed, that I had to be part of!

On our last full day in Cap Cana, it was a beautiful sunny day.  We walked around a bit, and here I am posing from the Castle towards the beach.

We relaxed and enjoyed our last full day under the sun.  We had a nice lunch, right by the beach, what better way to enjoy the view, the breeze and our last moments at the Sanctuary.

Here I am, in the little pagoda that you see in the previous picture.  They used that place for weddings.  The view from there wasn't too shabby...

Here I am, while Stinkypaw enjoyed her last Pina Colada, at the airport where it was sooo darn humid.  We got there a bit too early, and had to wait some... let's just say the airport in the Tropics is not what we are used to in North America... and the no AC thing is just sad, really.

And this about closes my travel report of my time at the Sanctuary at Cap Cana in Dominican Republic.  Until next trip!

Back in Town

Not only do I travel world wide, but I also travel within town too.  My last little trip was going back to our old stomping ground for a Postcrossing meet up.  Stinkypaw attended that meet and I, naturally, tagged along.

That day the weather was really bad, it was raining cats and dogs, really.  We ended up in a little restaurant in Old Montréal, jam packed, and to top it off, after being there for a few hours, we were asked to leave since people were waiting to get a table...  Things were packed and under pouring rain we made our way to a little coffee shop that welcomed us in Palais des Congrès.  Not our best meet, let's say.

Here I am with the results of the day.

276 cards signed that day
It is always pleasant to catch up some at a meet, but the more meets I witness the more I find it is not really about socializing but all about getting the cards signed. Oh well, what can I do, but witness it all, and look pretty?  And that I do very well, thank you very much!

Rimouski By the Beach

This time my travels are local.  Stinkypaw is driving to Rimouski to attend yet another Postcrossing meet-up.  A little motel room was reserved and she drove all the way along with another Postcrossing member with whom she will share the room.

The drive was long and mostly rainy. There was a dinner planned for those who arrived on Friday like us, so we made it in time to drop off our luggage, refresh a little and make our way to meet people.

Saturday morning was bright and crisp, especially that close to the water.

View right in front of our room

View to the right of our room
View to the left of our room, with the nice lighthouse
Pointe-au-Père Lighthouse
The meet was scheduled to start at 9am, but for some reason it was delayed, and people arrived slowly.  It took longer than anticipated.  We even had lunch there!  By the time all the cards were signed, and things were wrapped up the sun was basically gone, and the weather slowly turned to a bit colder.

The end results of our labor!  Overall it was a good meet, but man oh man, the drive home was rainy all the way, so a loooong drive home.  We all made it back in one piece.

Moving Day Nightmare!

The BIG day is here, we are finally getting out of this crappy apartment to move into our new home, can't wait to see that place!

What was supposed to be a one day affair turned out to be a two day thing, and with so much damages it is no longer funny...  It's a good thing that the new place was delivered as promised, because someone might have gotten hurt.

Here's the new place, all empty and clean, ready to be loaded up with boxes and furniture. That nice big area wasn't empty for long...

Viva Las Vegas They Say

Look at me in Vegas, baby!  What a week, the weather has been sunny and hot, can't complain!

Even had time to catch some rays at the pool with Stinkypaw.

It was a fun filled week, for them mostly, but still a fun time away, before we do that big move.

Here I am getting ready to fly, again...

Since nobody wants me to get lost, I tend to hide in Stinkypaw's travel bag.  Since they had not really taken me sightseeing much, I made it for it all on the way to the airport.

The Mandalay Bay
The back side of the Famous Sign

After they returned the rental car, made our way to the terminal and had a bit of time to grab a coffee and do a little shopping...

A welcomed coffee since it was an early flight...

She did have enough time to grab a local souvenir, one more shinny thing for her.

You must admit I almost look exotic with it, no?  There were some issues at the gate, and had to wait some...

But eventually we made it on the plane!

And then the waiting begun.  We sat there for some time, and then were hit with a flash flood type of storm.  We couldn't even see the tip of the wing it was raining so hard.  We did make it Montréal, not a moment too soon.  What a day!

This is the Tenth and last counted trip...Toulouse

... I could keep on counting but I won't after this, but I sure will keep on sharing my adventures with you.  Summer came and went, and to start 2016 Stinkypaw and He decided to sell their downtown condo.  They managed to sell quickly, good timing, good price, good riddance! One of the fun thing about their sale was the fact that the new owners wanted to move in quickly.  She started packing boxes, and was all ready when February came around...

Closing up shop - deciding if I will be stored or simply packed...
We moved out by the 26th of February to park ourselves in a furnished apartment for two months, while their new place was being built.  Can you spell S.T.R.E.S.S?  I could!

During that time, He had to go to Toulouse, and Stinkypaw and I tagged along.

This was on our first night there, at the café of the hotel where we stayed... a little French wine, of course!

Stinkypaw didn't really take me around while she visited the city on foot.  But she did have me pose with those two red things, which were reminding her of her childhood...

She actually brought me out once, when she went to meet another Postcrossing member for a mini-meet.

This was the little stack of cards that they prepared that afternoon... Actually, they talked more than anything and didn't send that many cards.  Can't have everything, and they were enjoying themselves, so it's all good!

When we'll get back from Europe, we have a week at in the temporary home before taking off for a week in Vegas!
